What to Do After Landing at Sabiha Gokcen Airport: A Step-by-Step, District-by-District Arrival Guide (2026)
Quick answer: After landing at Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), you go through passport control (on international flights), baggage claim and customs, then walk to the arrivals exit for your flight; the airport has a single terminal, and domestic and international arrivals are in the same building. If you have booked a private transfer, your driver meets you at this exit with a Vixride sign showing your name. Whether your plane lands early or late, the driver follows the actual landing time and waits for 60 minutes free of charge from landing. In normal traffic, you reach Pendik in about 15 minutes, Kadikoy in 34, Taksim in 47 and Sultanahmet in 50.
What should you prepare before your flight?
To book, you enter the pickup and drop-off points, the date, the time and the number of passengers in the search form; you then choose the vehicle class (Economy Sedan, FirstClass Van or Vip Sprinter), enter your contact details and confirm. Enter your full flight number; your driver uses it to track your plane's actual landing time.
Your booking is confirmed by a voucher sent by email or WhatsApp. Before you land, your driver's phone number, the vehicle's licence plate and the exact meeting point are sent to you by WhatsApp.
You can book up to 2 hours before pickup; in peak season, we recommend booking 24–48 hours in advance.
Vixride is a TÜRSAB-licensed travel agency (licence no. 14798) that has provided private airport transfers since 2021; transfers operate under a D2 authorisation certificate, drivers hold an SRC certificate, and drivers and vehicles are insured. At 10 airports in Turkey and North Cyprus (IST, SAW, AYT, GZP, ADB, BJV, DLM, ASR, NAV, ECN), transfers run in both directions between the airport and a hotel, villa or any address. The website is available in 8 languages: Turkish, English, German, French, Russian, Polish, Chinese and Japanese.
What happens at the exit? Meeting your driver in four steps
Use the arrivals exit for your flight (domestic or international). From landing to your hotel, the process consists of four steps:
- Live flight tracking: Your driver follows your flight on a live flight radar and works to your plane's actual landing time, not the scheduled time.
- Baggage claim and exit gate: If you are an international passenger, you go through passport control and customs, collect your luggage and walk to the arrivals exit. Meanwhile, the driver waits free of charge for up to 60 minutes.
- Meet and greet with a name sign: At the exit gate, the driver waits with a personalised Vixride sign showing your name, carries your suitcases to the vehicle and escorts you.
- Direct ride: The vehicle is reserved for your group alone; no other passengers are picked up, no stops are made, and you go straight to your hotel lobby, villa or address.
If you cannot see the sign, do the following in order:
- Reread the meeting point details on WhatsApp and make sure you are at the right exit.
- Call your driver on the number in the message; you also have the vehicle's licence plate.
- If you cannot reach the driver, message or call +90 553 537 33 61 on WhatsApp; the operations team will connect you with your driver. Support is available 24/7 in Turkish, English, German, French and Russian.
Free waiting, early landings, delays and the "No Show" rule
Free waiting is 60 minutes from your plane's actual landing time. If the plane lands early, the driver tracks that too; the time starts not from the scheduled time but from the moment the plane actually touches down. Even if the delay runs to several hours, the driver adjusts accordingly, no extra charge is made and you do not need to report the delay. You only need to let us know if your flight is cancelled or if you are moved to another day or another flight number.
If passport control takes a long time: The driver waits at the terminal exit whenever you land. As the time starts at landing, the time spent at passport control, baggage claim and customs also counts towards these 60 minutes.
If you are not at the exit within 60 minutes, the booking is recorded as a "No Show" and the driver may leave; in this case, no charge is made.
The rule is different for hotel pickups: If you also book a transfer to pick you up from your hotel or an address at the end of your stay, free waiting there is 15 minutes (60 minutes at the airport). If you do not show up, you are still not charged.

The Princes' Islands, Sile, Agva and the Istanbul Airport side
Princes' Islands: Private car traffic is not allowed on Buyukada, Heybeliada and Burgazada. The transfer therefore drops you at Bostanci ferry pier, 24 km and about 21 minutes from Sabiha Gokcen, and you continue to your island hotel by ferry. Ferries to the islands leave from this pier, and the crossing takes about 30–40 minutes. The ferry ticket is not included in the transfer price; check the current ferry schedule. The private vehicle, flight tracking, meet and greet with a name sign, tolls and parking fees, and free child seats are included in the transfer.
The island hotels listed for booking include Splendid Palace Buyukada, Ada Palas Buyukada, Ascot Hotel Buyukada, Mimoza Hotel, Serguzest Otel Buyukada, Buyukada Cankaya Hotel, Buyukada Comfort Hotel and Buyukada Princess Hotel; on Heybeliada, Halki Palas is listed.
Worked example: A couple lands at 14:10; free waiting lasts until 15:10. From the moment they meet the driver at the exit, they reach Bostanci ferry pier in about 21 minutes in normal traffic. If a ferry leaves straight away, the drive plus the 30–40-minute crossing comes to 51–61 minutes in total; if they have to wait for a ferry at the pier, it takes that much longer.
Sile and Agva: Sile is about 60 km away by road and about 63 minutes door to door in normal traffic, while Agva is about 80 km and 84 minutes away.
Istanbul Airport: If you are transferring to Istanbul Airport, direct terminal-to-terminal transfers run between the two airports 24/7. The route goes via the Northern Marmara Motorway and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge; the distance is 78 km and the journey takes about 82 minutes. Arnavutkoy (78 km, 82 minutes) and the Istanbul Airport area (80 km, 84 minutes) are also reached door to door without entering city traffic.
Vehicles, price and payment: which vehicle should you choose?
Choose the vehicle according to your number of passengers and large suitcases:
| Vehicle | Max. passengers | Max. large suitcases | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy Sedan (Mercedes E-Class) | 3 | 2 | Solo travellers or couples, light luggage |
| FirstClass Van (Mercedes Vito) | 6 | 6 | Families, pushchairs, golf bags |
| Vip Sprinter (Mercedes Sprinter) | 16 | 16 | Large groups of 7 or more |
If either your number of passengers or your number of suitcases exceeds the limit, move up a class. Pushchairs, golf bags and foldable wheelchairs fit in the FirstClass Van and the Vip Sprinter.
All vehicles are air-conditioned, regularly sanitised and have luggage space; they feature leather seats, free Wi-Fi, USB charging and complimentary water. Child seats and booster cushions that meet European safety norms are installed in the vehicle free of charge before your arrival if you request them when booking.
Price: The fixed price is per vehicle; everyone in the vehicle is included in the amount you see when booking. VAT, motorway, bridge and Eurasia Tunnel tolls, airport parking and traffic delays are included in the price; there is no meter, no night surcharge and no luggage charge.
Payment: No payment is taken in advance or online. At the end of the ride, you pay in the vehicle in cash (euros, US dollars, pounds sterling or Turkish lira) or by credit or debit card. If you are not satisfied with the service, you may choose not to pay.
Cancellation and changes: As nothing is paid in advance, cancellation and changes are always free of charge. We kindly ask you to let us know via WhatsApp, quoting your booking reference, at least 24 hours in advance so that the vehicle can be reassigned to another passenger; this is not a deadline, only a request.
Havabus, yellow taxi or private transfer: which suits you?
| Aspect | Havabus | Yellow airport taxi | Vixride private transfer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fare | Per person | Metered, unpredictable | Fixed price per vehicle |
| Extra charges | — | Extra toll and congestion surcharges | None |
| Route | Fixed service, drop-off at central stops | Door to door, route at the driver's discretion | Direct, non-stop, door to door |
| Meet and greet | None | None; long taxi queues at peak times | Name sign, 60 minutes of free waiting |

| Vehicle | 45–50 seats, crowded, tight seating | Compact sedan, limited luggage space | Sedan, van or Sprinter |
| Child seat | None | None | Free |
Havabus buses leave from the Havabus stand in front of the terminal; tickets are sold at the Havabus desk or at havabus.com. The per-person fares checked in September 2026 are shown as ranges, because sources publish different figures: Taksim ₺370–490, Kadikoy ₺230–300. Current departure times are at havabus.com.
Worked example: By Havabus, a family of four pays ₺920–1,200 (4 x ₺230–300) to Kadikoy and ₺1,480–1,960 (4 x ₺370–490) to Taksim, and may also need to take a taxi from the central stop to the hotel or walk there with their suitcases. With a private transfer, you pay a single fixed price per vehicle; for families of 3–4, the total bus fare can exceed this cost.
Two example scenarios: Sultanahmet on a Friday evening, Nisantasi at midnight
First example: A family of two adults and two children aged 4 and 9 lands at Sabiha Gokcen from abroad on a Friday evening. They have 4 large suitcases and a pushchair; their hotel is in Sultanahmet's pedestrian zone.
- Booking: As 4 passengers and 4 suitcases exceed the Economy Sedan's limit (3 passengers, 2 suitcases), the family chooses the FirstClass Van. They enter the flight number and request two child seats free of charge.
- Landing: The scheduled landing time is 18:30, but the plane lands at 18:55. As the driver tracks the actual landing, the family does not need to report anything.
- Waiting time: Free waiting runs not from 18:30 but from the actual landing time of 18:55, and lasts until 19:55.
- Ride: The 50-minute drive in normal traffic may take longer because of Friday evening congestion; the price does not change.
- Arrival: As the hotel is in the pedestrian zone, the driver stops at the nearest accessible point and carries the suitcases to reception.
Second example: A business traveller lands late at night, at 00:40, with one large suitcase and is staying at a boutique hotel on a one-way street in Nisantasi.
- Vehicle: For 1 passenger and 1 suitcase, the Economy Sedan is enough; there is no night surcharge.
- Waiting: Free waiting runs from 00:40 to 01:40; the passenger just needs to be at the exit before then.
- Drive: Nisantasi is 45 km and 47 minutes away in normal traffic; the driver pulls up to the hotel entrance and carries the suitcase to reception.
