Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a chauffeur cost per hour in Ihlara Valley?
Hourly rates: Economy Sedan €40, FirstClass Van €50, Vip Sprinter €75. Packages run from 2 to 10 hours; for example 4 hours / 80 km with an Economy Sedan costs €160. The price is per vehicle, not per person.
How many kilometres are included in a package?
Each hour includes 20 km: 2 hours / 40 km, 4 hours / 80 km, 10 hours / 200 km. You choose the package when booking; extras such as baby or child seats (€5 each on hourly hire) are added in the same step.
Where does the chauffeur pick me up?
At your hotel, villa or any address in Ihlara Valley. Enter it as the pickup location when booking; the driver waits for you at every stop during the package.
Can I also book an airport transfer to Ihlara Valley?
Yes. Nevsehir Cappadocia Airport (NAV) to Ihlara Valley is about 90 km, ~80 minutes; see the NAV to Ihlara Valley transfer page for the fixed price.
Where does the driver drop us off and pick us up for a walk in Ihlara Valley?
The most popular plan is to enter the valley at Ihlara village and walk to Belisırma: the driver drops you at the entrance and waits in Belisırma. If you want a longer walk, continue from Belisırma to Selime, and the driver meets you in Selime instead. The path follows the Melendiz stream and is largely level, with rock-cut churches decorated with frescoes along the way.
Is Selime Monastery worth seeing?
Yes. At the northern end of the valley, Selime Monastery is one of the largest rock-cut complexes in Cappadocia, impressive for its cathedral-like hall, kitchen and stables. Exploring it involves some scrambling on the rocky slope, so wear comfortable shoes. If you end your Ihlara walk in Selime, the monastery makes a fitting last stop before the driver takes you back.
Can we stop in Güzelyurt on the way to Ihlara?
Yes. Güzelyurt, formerly Gelveri, is a quiet town near Ihlara with stone houses and rock-cut churches. Here you can see the church dedicated to St Gregory of Nazianzus and the Monastery Valley right next to the town. The driver drops you in the centre and waits, and after a short stroll you continue on to Ihlara Valley.
Can we visit Ihlara Valley with older relatives or small children?
Yes, but choose your entry point carefully: at the main entrance near Ihlara village you go down into the valley by a long staircase. At Belisırma the valley floor is much easier to reach, so a short walk followed by lunch at one of the restaurants beside the stream is a good option. The driver waits nearby, so you can head back by car as soon as anyone gets tired.
Does the driver also act as a guide, and are entrance tickets included?
The driver knows the roads and gets you between stops comfortably, but is not a licensed tour guide and does not guide you inside museums or sites. If you would like a licensed guide, arrange and pay for one separately. Museum entrance tickets, balloon flights and similar activities are not included in the price; you buy them yourself at the site or from the operator.
When and how do we pay, and what if our plans change?
Nothing is paid in advance: you pay the driver in the car, in cash (EUR, USD, GBP or TRY) or by card. The price is per vehicle, not per person. If your plans change, you can modify or cancel the booking free of charge up to 24 hours before the start.
