Chauffeur Hire in Cappadocia by the Hour: Prices, Packages & Day Plans
Short answer: Chauffeur hire in Cappadocia costs €40 per hour in a Mercedes E-Class (up to 3 passengers), €50 in a Mercedes Vito (up to 6) and €75 in a Mercedes Sprinter (up to 16). Packages run from 2 to 10 hours with 20 km included per hour; the shortest is 2 hours / 40 km for €80. The core sights around Göreme lie 1 to 5 km apart, so time matters more than distance. The price is per vehicle.
- Hourly rate: Economy Sedan €40 · FirstClass Van €50 · Vip Sprinter €75
- Packages: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 10 hours, 20 km per hour (10 hours = 200 km)
- Pickup: any cave hotel or address in Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos and the rest of the region
- Included: fuel, parking, bottled water and waiting at every stop
- Not included: museum tickets, balloon flights and a licensed guide
- Payment: nothing in advance; cash (EUR, USD, GBP or TRY) or card to the driver, free cancellation (please let us know at least 24 hours in advance)
Cappadocia is not one town but a volcanic plateau of villages and valleys between Nevşehir, Ürgüp and Avanos. Public transport between the sights is thin, which is where a car with driver by the hour earns its keep.
Hourly driver, group tour or rental car: what works in Cappadocia?
Group tour: the classic "red" and "green" bus tours are cheap, but the order is fixed and there are usually stops at onyx, carpet or jewellery shops.
Rental car: the main roads are easy, but the lanes up to the cave hotels of Göreme and Uçhisar are steep and narrow, car parks at the Open-Air Museum and Paşabağ fill from mid-morning, and the plateau sits at roughly 1,000 to 1,300 m, so snow and ice are normal from December to February. A taxi is fine for one hop, but at valley trailheads there is rarely one waiting.
Fixed-price private tour: if you want the classic route planned for you, our Red Tour with Göreme, Uçhisar, Paşabağ and Avanos and our Green Tour to Derinkuyu, Ihlara and Selime start at €320 per vehicle, with guide and lunch as options. Hourly hire suits mixed days with a sunset walk or a winery.
How much does chauffeur hire in Cappadocia cost?
The formula is hours × the vehicle's hourly rate, with 20 km added for every hour. Prices as of October 2026, per vehicle, fuel and parking included.
| Package | Economy Sedan (up to 3) | FirstClass Van (up to 6) | Vip Sprinter (up to 16) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 hours / 40 km | €80 | €100 | €150 |
| 3 hours / 60 km | €120 | €150 | €225 |
| 4 hours / 80 km | €160 | €200 | €300 |
| 5 hours / 100 km | €200 | €250 | €375 |
| 6 hours / 120 km | €240 | €300 | €450 |
| 8 hours / 160 km | €320 | €400 | €600 |
| 10 hours / 200 km | €400 | €500 | €750 |
Per person in a full vehicle: six friends sharing the FirstClass Van for a 6-hour day pay €300, or €50 each; for 8 hours it is €400, about €67 each. Sixteen people in the Vip Sprinter pay €750 for 10 hours, €46.88 per person. A couple in the sedan pays €80 each for a 4-hour half day. Child seats cost €5 each on hourly hire.
Which package do you need?
Around Göreme, time decides the package, not kilometres. Each place below is within 5 km of the village, so on its own it fits the shortest package with about an hour there. Combine three or four and you are at 4 to 6 hours.
| Place | One way from Göreme | Suggested package |
|---|---|---|
| Göreme Panorama viewpoint | ≈ 1 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Göreme Open-Air Museum | ≈ 2 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Love Valley (Bağlıdere) | ≈ 2 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Pigeon Valley | ≈ 2 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Uçhisar Castle | ≈ 3 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Çavuşin old village | ≈ 4 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Rose and Red Valleys (Kızılçukur) | ≈ 4 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
| Ortahisar Castle | ≈ 5 km | 2 hours / 40 km |
Further out, kilometres count. From Göreme, Ürgüp is about 9 km, Avanos 10 km, Nevşehir 13 km and Mustafapaşa 15 km; Kaymaklı is roughly 30 km, Derinkuyu 40 km, Kayseri 75 km and Ihlara 85 km. A day with Ihlara therefore needs 10 hours / 200 km. Staying in Ürgüp rather than Göreme? Add 20 km to most loops.
Arriving by plane: hourly packages start at your hotel, so take a fixed transfer for the arrival. From Nevşehir airport (NAV) to Göreme it is 40 km, about 40 minutes, from €55 per sedan; from Kayseri (ASR) 74 km, about 65 minutes, from €95. Five day plans with realistic hours
1. The classic north: 6 hours / 120 km
Be at the Göreme Open-Air Museum at opening time and allow 90 minutes, including the Tokalı Church with its deep-blue frescoes. Continue to the cliff village of Çavuşin (30 minutes) and the triple-capped chimneys of Paşabağ (45 minutes). In Avanos, lunch by the Kızılırmak and watch a potter at the kick wheel (90 minutes), stop in Devrent Valley, then finish on top of Uçhisar Castle. Cost: €240 by sedan, €300 by van.
2. Balloon morning, valleys at sunset: 4 hours / 80 km
If you fly, the balloon company collects you before dawn and brings you back, so no car is needed. Start in the afternoon: Ortahisar Castle (40 minutes), the Pigeon Valley viewpoint, then a drop at the Rose Valley trail near Çavuşin. Walk 1.5 to 2 hours while the driver goes round to the terrace above the Red Valley and waits there at sunset, around 20:30 in June and 17:00 in December. Cost: €160 by sedan, €200 by van.
3. The south: underground city, Ihlara and Selime: 10 hours / 200 km
Leave at 08:30 to reach Derinkuyu before the coaches; its tunnels go down about 85 m and an hour is enough. At Ihlara, descend the long staircase to the Melendiz stream and walk 3 to 4 km past the Ağaçaltı Church to Belisırma, where the driver waits and lunch is trout by the water. On the way back, climb through the rock-cut Selime Monastery. The loop is roughly 190 km: €400 by sedan, €500 by van.
4. Ürgüp, Mustafapaşa and wine: 4 hours / 80 km
Start with the view from Temenni Hill in Ürgüp and the Three Beauties (Üç Güzeller) chimneys outside town. In Mustafapaşa, the former Greek village of Sinasos, walk among carved stone mansions to the Church of Saints Constantine and Helena (60 minutes). Back in Ürgüp, taste wine from the local white Emir grape. Cost: €160 by sedan.
5. Kayseri, and Erciyes in winter: 8 hours / 160 km
From Ürgüp it is about 70 km to Kayseri: the black basalt citadel, the Gevher Nesibe medical school of 1206, now a museum, and the Döner Kümbet tomb, then mantı and pastırma for lunch. For skiing at Erciyes, about 30 km from Kayseri airport, a base in Kayseri city beats commuting from Göreme; from Göreme, plan 10 hours for the city day.

Practical tips: balloons, weather, cave hotels and crowds
- Watching the balloons: a 2-hour package starting before dawn gets you to the Göreme Panorama viewpoint or the ridge above Love Valley. Flights are cancelled in wind, so keep more than one morning free.
- Seasons: April to June and September to October are best for valley walks. Summer nights are cool even in July; snow is common from December to February, so allow extra time.
- Cave hotels: many sit on steep lanes in Göreme and Uçhisar. Give the exact hotel name; the driver comes as close as the lane allows.
- Crowds: the Open-Air Museum and Paşabağ are busiest from late morning. Go at opening or late in the day.
- Underground cities: passages are low and cool all year. Bring a layer and good shoes; skip them if tight spaces bother you.
- Tickets and hours: they change with the season; check muze.gov.tr. The Museum Pass Cappadocia covers the state sites.
How to book and how the day works
- Choose the package and the vehicle by group size: up to 3, 6 or 16 passengers.
- Enter your hotel as pickup, the date, start time and any child seats.
- Nothing is paid online. Changes and cancellation are free; please let us know at least 24 hours in advance.
- The driver arrives in the Mercedes at the agreed time, with water on board.
- You decide the stops; the driver waits at each one, or meets you at the far end of a valley walk.
- At the end you pay the fixed price to the driver, in cash or by card.

€40 per hour for the Economy Sedan, €50 for the FirstClass Van and €75 for the Vip Sprinter. A 6-hour day therefore costs €240, €300 or €450 depending on the vehicle. The price is per vehicle, not per person, with fuel and parking included.
How many kilometres are included?
20 km per hour: 40 km with 2 hours, 120 km with 6 hours, 200 km with 10 hours. Derinkuyu and Ihlara in one day come to roughly 190 km, so book 10 hours.
Can we use the car to watch the balloons at sunrise?
Yes. A 2-hour package starting before dawn takes you to a viewpoint such as Göreme Panorama and back to the hotel for breakfast. If you fly yourself, you do not need the car: balloon companies pick up and drop off their guests.
Which package do I need for an underground city and Ihlara Valley?
For Derinkuyu, Ihlara and Selime in one day from Göreme, 10 hours / 200 km. An underground city combined with Uçhisar fits 4 hours / 80 km. If you prefer a planned route with an optional guide, the Green Tour starts at €320 per vehicle.
Are entrance tickets included, and is the driver a guide?
No. Museum tickets and balloon flights are paid separately at the site or to the operator. The driver waits and gets you between stops comfortably but is not a licensed guide; for explanations inside the sites, book one of our private tours with a guide.
