About Kurabiye Hotel
When Kurabiye Hotel opened in 2010 it was the first hotel in Hacımemiş, the old quarter of Alaçatı. The boutique hotel stands at No:1 on 12030 Sokak in Alaçatı Mahallesi, Çeşme district, among the stone houses of the historic village. Its second building, Kurabiye Palas, is about 30 m away and faces Dutlu Square in Hacımemiş.
Fast roads cover almost the whole trip: the transfer circles İzmir on the ring road and then keeps west on the Çeşme motorway, passing Urla about halfway. Once off at the Alaçatı junction, the driver heads into the village, and the final few hundred metres are narrow stone-walled lanes in Hacımemiş, taken at walking pace up to 12030 Sokak.
The main house has 13 rooms around a courtyard enclosed by historic walls, where a traditional Turkish family breakfast is served; the courtyard also holds a pool and a Jacuzzi, and snacks are offered in the evening. Kurabiye Palas is a Greek mansion built in 1821 for the town's rulers, later the home of Mustafa Ağa's family, who came from Thessaloniki in 1923. Its ceilings rise to almost 4 m above old wooden floors; four rooms on the upper floor opened after restoration, and the ground floor houses the Dondurmino gelato shop. The Akbulut family took over the Palas in 2022.
